The Review
What can I say about a product that has no reason to exist other than to fill MLB's 99-cent-pack product quota? The sole reason for Opening Day's return was that Topps increased the packs of Topps Attax to $1.99.
About the only thing cool is that the Phillie Phanatic has a card in this set.
Product Rating: 1 1/2 Gumsticks (out of five)

Did you notice that Opening Day looks a lot like regular Topps?
On a serious note, here's what Topps should do if they want a successful opening day, $1/pack offering:
1) Wait until opening day (or shortly after) to release the set
2) Make a card of every opening day player (25 players x 30 teams = 750 total cards)
3) Have 4-5 insert sets with 1 insert per pack
4) Eliminate autos and relics (I would rather have more base or an insert than a scrub sticker auto)
5) Celebrate each player making the team with special numbering (1-25 Angels, 26-50 Astros, etc..), special 25-card team holders, making the positions more prominent (1st starting pitcher, 2nd starting pitcher, etc...)
They should just bring back Total. I miss Total.
