OTL on the Cobb-Edwards T-206 Wagner

Caught this on ESPN's Outside the Lines this morning.

So, what do you think? Is it real? Or not?

I'm torn on this card. On one hand the lettering just screams FAAAAAKE and the Piedmont back seems a bit dodgy. On the other hand if it has been proven that the paper and ink date from before 1921 it's really hard for me to dispute science. One thing I do know is that this card was never a general issue card that made it into packs. Neither is the Gretzky Wagner for that matter. It could be some sort of weird proof card or maybe the first counterfeit in existence which in my eyes makes it just as important as a regular Wagner. Trying to nail down exactly what the heck it is is going to be next to impossible though.

I just don't get why they absolutely refuse to have PSA check it. I mean, what is PSA going to do? They have checked countless cards and several in the same range of value.

I think the whole thing is fishy. They don't want to let the card be graded without them watching, that seems a little weird these are well respected companies, they arent goign to swipe the card. Also the guys cousin just seemed to creep me out a little it seems he is way to involved for a card that isnt even technically his.

It really seems to be a fake card. I know it's disappointing when you think you have such a valuable card and it turns out to be fake, but at some point these guys just have to accept it...

This card's a fake. These 2 guys are a joke. The funniest part of the video is the auction. The look on the guy face when he get's no takers for 300K is priceless. If they are so confident, let PSA look at.

So many different things...

One, the guy says he had no idea who Honus Wagner was or how valuble and rare the card was... yet he dug in his pockets and shelled out $1800 bucks for it?!?!?
Where is he when I'm selling stuff?

Two, I don't like how the "browning" of the card is over the entire face of the card. The white borders are gone, but the yellow and other colours aren't as affected. Also, the shadowing around Honus' head is inconsistant with other copies. Like the "lighting angle" is different.

and finally... yeah. The cousin is creepy. He keeps referring to it as "our" card... etc... That boy is in it for the money.

If I had a million dollar card... I would have both PSA and Beckett look at it, without slabbing. Then I would be able to make my decision.
