The $250 EPIC FAIL.

First, go watch Beckett's break of two pack/boxes of Topps Sterling. (I'd post it here for your convince, they won't let me embed the video to this site.)

Go on, watch it.

While you watch, I'll keep myself entertained with this Tom the Ripper mash-up video.

Now, if you're a long-time Stale Gum reader, you've probably figured out that Topps Sterling is a product that isn't exactly geared toward my demographic. But if I paid $250 for a "pox" of Sterling, and my "big hit" is a framed multi-swatch jersey card of Tom Seaver numbered to ten copies, and the '69 on the frame WAS MOUNTED UPSIDE DOWN, I would not be a happy collector.

That is all.

Wow. Words fail me.

I don't know if I should be more outraged the Beckett expects me to watch that crap, or that Topps thinks their five crappy serial-numbered cards should be "worth" buying for $250.

To say nothing of the quality control... then again, whoever ends up with that ugly Seaver card will probably just count it as a one-of-a-kind error.

Ok you forced me to watch that just to see the " 69, " error.

Three things that highly annoyed me:

1) the heartbeat crap at the beginning.

2) the constant references to a card #ed 250/250 as a "one of one"

3) the fact that Tracy Hackler always looks bored as fuck in these videos.

I'd never buy a box of Sterling in a billion eons anyway but it was mildly entertaining I guess.

I actually bought two boxes of it today, you know because of the whole "compulsive gambling addiction" thing.

I did better then Beckett I'm proud to say.

Wow. I just don't get the big bucks boxes. But in an intriguing development, the word verification here is 'boxyst.'

I wanted a box of Sterling for Christmas sooooo badly. Why? So I could finally bust one and not have to pay for it.

It's times like these that make me thank my lucky stars that I'm a Twins fan. You Yankees, Red Sox, and HOF fans can turn out your pockets while I'm paying pennies on your dollar for guys no one else has even heard of. Get myself on eBay, search Twins Sterling, and BAM. No need to pay $250 for something I don't want and can't get rid of.
