The gimmick that blew up in Topps' face.

In the matter of 24-hours, this card went from yet another merely ridiculous gimmick, to an embarrassingly stupid gimmick.

Credibility, schmedibility.

You think they'll do a third gimmick card with the face of Joe Namath behind Brett? Neil O'Donnell? Browning Nagle?

Maybe Topps should do an Updates and Highlights (shudder) set for Football the way they do for baseball, that way they can create their Favre "Jets" card with the gimmicks that dayf suggested.

This is pretty much why I gave up collecting back in '95. I was sucked in back in around '00 but that only lasted a few years.

Now it's just hockey. That is, until they release a Dino Ciccarelli throwback variation with him in the nude standing in his front yard.
