My Christmas Gift to You

The Baseball Project is a supergroup of 1980s alt-rock all-stars: R.E.M.'s Peter Buck; Scott McCaughey of The Young Fresh Fellows; Steve Wynn, most notably of Dream Syndicate; and his wife Linda Pitmon.

Last April, as a celebration of the over 300,000+ card Jefferson R. Burdick collection, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art held "An Evening of Baseball History and Music," with The Baseball Project giving a performance.

Here now, through the magic of YouTube is The Baseball Project with their musical tribute to The Greatest Card Collector of All Time: Jefferson Burdick.

You know you've made it when you've been meme'd.

So yeah, I went ahead a made a Jefferson Burdick meme generator thing.

I'd like to post them all, but there are just too many to post here.

UPDATE

Inspired by The Cardboard (or Pony, or whatever the fuck he's calling himself now) Junkie, I've created this "Dos Equis Man" meme. Feel free to add your own.

Y U HATIN' ON JEFF?

No, I couldn't think of anything else clever to caption this old picture of Jefferson Burdick either.

Maybe you can come up with something better? Here's the photo, go for it.

Speaking of patience...

My good friend Andrew of the excellent cardnewsblog (yeah, it's all one word) Sports Card Info has informed me that my one-man campaign to get the greatest card collector who ever lived, Jefferson Burdick, onto his own baseball card has been successful. Sort of.

It ain't gonna be in Topps and it won't be the set Jeff deserves to be in (Allen & Ginter), but instead it'll be an unlicensed Minor League product: 2010 Tri-Star Obak.

But hey, it's better than nothing!

WHY IS THIS NOT HAPPENING?????

I mean, this is a no-brainer!

Topps: If you make this card, this year, I will forgive you for all your past sins (i.e. Poley Walnuts, Kazuo Uzuki, 2008 Stadium Club, et al) and absolve you, in advance, of any future indisgressions.

My Christmas Gift to You.

I've been waiting seven months to post this. But trust me, it was worth the wait.

When I went to visit Jefferson Burdick's grave this past May, I ran into a lady named Jill Ladd and her mother Beverley. We spent about three hours in that graveyard looking for Ol' Jeff's final resting place. And when we did, I ripped a box of '09 Bowman.

A couple of days later, I got an e-mail from Jill with a few interesting attachments. As my Christmas gift, I share these files with you. Enjoy.

Topps: MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Come on Topps. Jeff deserves to be on a card. And what better way to honor the greatest card collector who ever lived, than by putting Jeff Burdick in 2009 Allen & Ginter.
